🆕 A Flurry of Snow-Related Information

City of Hamilton roads are plowed based on priority.

The first priority is main routes and escarpment crossings.

The second priority is collector roads.

The third priority is neighbourhood streets.

Within 4 hours of the completion of a weather event, major arterial roads and escarpment accesses are targeted to be bare.

Within 8 hours, primary collector roads are targeted to be bare, while secondary collector roads and steep residential hills are targeted to have bare centres.

Within 24 hours, residential roads are targeted to be bare, while rural roads are targeted to have bare centres to snow packed.

Please remember, as per the City of Hamilton's Snow and Ice By-law No. 03-296, it is the responsibility of the property owner and/or occupants to clear their sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours of a snow fall. This includes sidewalks adjacent to the property and roofs that overhang the City sidewalk.
